The New year has brought us many different challenges and much excitement.
We have launched our ‘Daedalus’ print club which is steadily attracting members. The opening piece, 'Drumsturdy’ by John McLean is a real firecracker of a print. If you are interested in receiving more information about the club, please email us on firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you details by return.
For Alan Davie, and the publisher Robin Brechin, we made 'Grangemouth Image’ which is now travelling North in a crate. Alan remains a distinctive voice and the new piece is unapologetic, strongly coloured and full of energy. We plan a variation on the theme which will get onto the press in the next month or so.
Mat Chivers two very large screenprints have taken all our equipment to its absolute limit. They are based around cloud and crystal structures and make the most of the opaque and transparent qualities of the ink. Mat is a sculptor based in Devon who uses a wide range of technologies to great effect. We have just started a group of three hard-ground etchings with the probability of another three to follow.
For Stephen Chambers we have now editioned 'The Professor’, a stunning green screenprint and 'While Rome Burns’ a complex monochrome etching. Over the next few days we’ll begin editioning 'A Problem Day’ which is another screenprint on a rich blue ground.
Eileen Hogan begins work with us next week. Her first etching plate is already made and she will be making a body of screenprinted monotypes.
